Shield Testing: Science in Action at CMS

On Tuesday, September 13, CMS began participating in the State of Illinois' COVID-19 SHIELD testing program. Five CMS staff members completed the certification training through the University of Illinois in order to accurately collect the saliva samples on the CMS campus. Unvaccinated students (6th graders and a few 7th graders who are too young to receive the vaccine) were able to be tested mid-morning and receive their results before school the next day.

All results were negative. All CMS staff members and all CMS students who are old enough have been vaccinated.
