This fall CMS students will have expanded opportunities to develop their social and emotional learning skills. Based on teacher observations and student/family input, the new Health and Soft Skills Curriculum is devoted to helping students better manage their physical and mental health. Components of this curriculum include:
teacher-led lessons about communication, time management, relationships, organization/study skills, self-care and other topics;
presentations from the University of Illinois chapter of the American Medical Student Association on physical and mental health topics including body image, nutrition, puberty, hygiene and feminine health;
discussions about self-confidence, self-defense and relational dynamics as part of the ROX: Ruling Our Experiences program.
For further details about the curriculum, please visit the CMS website at www.campusms.org.
