Checking in with CMS Class of 2018 ~ Solara Campbell

We reached out to the CMS Class of 2018 as they prepared for their graduation from high school. CMS alumna Solara Campbell had the following reflections and advice:

What is your favorite memory from your time at CMS?

There’s a lot honestly, but CMS taught me a lot about myself and I’m very grateful for it. I was able to explore art and express my creativity and I’m so happy I got the chance to do that. I felt like part of a family and I loved it; but don’t stress future high school students! No matter how big the school is, you’ll still find your family.

What advice can you give to this year's graduating 8th grade class as they prepare for high school?

That would definitely be to get involved! Whatever it is: clubs, sports, band, anything. You’ll gain so many friends and experiences that way, and it’s a good chance to either further an interest you already have or discover a new one! For example, I joined Color Guard sophomore year and absolutely loved it; my one regret was not joining sooner. I also joined Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and even though I have no interest in business I was able to make friends from school, around the state, and across the country. Don’t be afraid to try something new! You may end up loving it.

What are your plans post graduation?

Going to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign! I’m not sure what exactly I want to study yet because my interests are varied, but high school gave me a lot of opportunities to discover more about myself, such as my love for writing and photography.

We wish Solara the best of luck! Are you part of the CMS Class of 2018? We would love to hear from you! Send an email to Sara Holleman at office@campusms.org and we will feature your responses in a future CMS blog!
