APPLIED ARTS CURRICULUM
6th Grade Knitting and Needle Felting: Students learn to knit and felt. In knitting, the girls learn the knit and purl stitch, how to cast on and off, to increase and decrease, to create a sampler. Needle Felting is the craft of using a specially designed needle to turn wool roving into dense dimensional shapes. The students will learn to needle felt flat forms, and 3 dimensional shapes
7th Grade Quilting: Students learn to cut and piece fabric. They also learn color and pattern placement and techniques unique to quilting.
8th Grade Sewing: Students will learn basic techniques of sewing, reading a pattern, and functions of a sewing machine.
